Food Yum! by Tiffany

September 10, 2009 by J Lenart

The choice of food in Italy is very healthy, not too heavy on meats or fats (because they usually eat olive oils). The dish here was from the dinner at All Pestello for “aperativo”. It is mostly meat but the portion size is very small. In America, we consume too much meat; one steak can be bigger than your recommended daily intake according to the food pyramid. Our “secondo” was also meat (turkey) but the three small slices still doesn’t make us overeat our daily intake. Oddly enough there wasn’t a lot of vegetables but the meal itself wasn’t heavy and I felt it was healthier than something we eat in the US. Our meal was a little high in carbohydrates but that’s ok, it just gives us a full sensation but is not necessarily bad for us. Our dinner was wonderful, each dish had a nice presentation and I had the opportunity to see what it’s like to be a true Italian.
