Recreational Parks Influencing Health by Sarah Leffler

September 13, 2009 by J Lenart

At such recreational areas as parks, many individuals and families can engage in physical activity. Whether that be by walking or running the path, or playing with children. Having an outdoor area to play sports and on the park playground allows for many Italians to entertain themselves through excercise. Increased excercise and physical activity obviously has a positive effect on the health of the individual, by reducing stress and the possiblity of weight problems. Also, the open area creates a family-friendly atmosphere that is conducive to strengthening family bonds and time together. Family ties are beneficial to living a healthy life, and further induced through being able to spend time together at a free recreational place. As excercise reduces the stress of daily life, so do the connections and bonds of friendships and families. The social support helps with the creation of a healthy body. Italians are well-known for their social natures, and strong family ties, that have highly collaborated with healthy bodies and minds. As previously learned, stress can cause long term chronic disease, like heart disease and hypertension, hindering one’s health. However, with access to parks like this one, Italians are freely given the area to increase health through excercise and family or friend time.
